Watch Out for Fake Eclipse Glasses

All Eyes on the Sun's Mysteriously Superhot Corona During Great American Eclipse

Your total will be $12, which isn't a great deal but you should have them in time. This is what we on the ground observe as a solar eclipse.

Anyone planning to watch the solar eclipse outside on August 21 must wear certified solar glasses to protect their eyes from the damaging rays of the sun. It will start in Texas and go in a northeast direction, through OH and up into Canada. The next total solar eclipse will occur June 30, 2345.

It's too early to know what the weather will be like on August 21, but clouds, rain and thunderstorms are all possible.

This is important even if you are wearing eclipse glasses or holding a solar viewer at the same time.

If you've caught the bug, another total solar eclipse is scheduled to pass through the continental U.S.in 2024.

And the Ada area will not be in that path of totality. The total event will be completed by 2:24 p.m., lasting a total of two hours and 47 minutes. At maximum, a sliver of light will remain in the upper left corner of the sun. This certification is used to indicate they are safe for viewing the sun. Winds will calm, birds will roost. The sky will take on an eerie grayish, dim glow. Day is now night. If skies are clear, you will be able to see the night stars during a total eclipse.

But every so often, there's a narrow window when the Earth, sun and moon align.

What would someone standing on the moon see happen on Earth? Luckily, Iredell County will be very near the moon's shadow, nearly giving residents a front-row seat to the Great American Eclipse. And at the new moon, there will be a solar eclipse, when the sun is blocked by the moon.

"'It's so risky for people to look at the sun even for brief periods of time because you can cause permanent damage to the retina", he says. In other words, they are not in a straight line.

In two types, the Moon slides directly between the Sun and the Earth. Eclipse cartographers have been hard at work, too: Xavier Jubier's Google Map and Michael Zeiler of GreatAmericanEclipse.com's handy web app are also worth investigating. That central shadow creating that thin path is known as the path of totality.

Don't look at the eclipse, unless, of course, you live in the backwoods of Tennessee.

"The corona... gives valuable information about the temperature of the Sun's atmosphere". Under normal conditions, the corona can not be seen from the ground because it is overwhelmed by the brightness of the sun's main disk, the photosphere. However, they appear as small specks moving across the sun. They will analyze the solar wind, which is particles moving out from the sun. Only during totality is it safe to look directly at the eclipse with the naked eye. It's very exciting for them and they may want to take the eye protection off. Sunglasses are not sufficient. This is when the moon will briefly block out the sun completely. The intense solar rays coming through these devices will damage the solar filter and your eyes. This injury can occur without the viewer being immediately aware of it and it is permanent. Turn away from the sun before removing the solar filter. "I can not sell it and I can not get it back in time for the eclipse", he said. I looked directly at the sun. If you see any scratches or damage, do not use them.

"The real glasses look very similar to movie theater 3-D glasses and can be purchased for as little as $2", said Steve Bernas, president and CEO of Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois. Many organizations will be providing these cardboard-framed glasses free of charge. Saturday morning, Fischer got word from Amazon that the glasses the union ordered may not meet the safety requirements.

Other options include: Craft a pinhole viewer to project the image onto another surface.

You must remove your solar eclipse glasses to see this, which is surely one of nature's most spectacular sights.

Don't miss this eclipse. "In our lifetime، this is the best eclipse to see،" said Greg Earle، engineer at Virginia Tech in the US.
