After the allegations came to light, Mueller reportedly lost his job and then sued Swift for $3 million, alleging her complaint led to his unfair dismissal.

A judge on Friday threw out Mueller's case against Swift saying that the pop star could not be held liable because Mueller failed to prove that she personally set out to have him fired.

A United States judge on Friday dismissed claims that pop superstar Taylor Swift got a radio DJ fired, but court proceedings will continue to consider the singer's allegations that he sexually assaulted her. David Mueller has accused Swift of slandering him to his radio station, alleging her complaint led to his unfair dismissal.

The Grammy-winning artist known for such hits as "Fearless" and "I Knew Your Were Trouble" reacted to the decision with tears of joy, embracing members of her legal team and family members with bear hugs in the courtroom.

The judge had tossed out Mueller's defamation-of-character claim against Swift before the trial, ruling that the former Denver DJ had waited too long to file suit under the statute of limitations. However, Mueller denies the groping claims.

According to BBC, the DJ made the same claims against Taylor's mother, #Andrea Swift, and radio promotions director Frank Bell. Mueller is seeking up to $3 million worth of damages as compensation for his ruined career.

"A man grabbed her rear end".

Swift used the word "ass" dozens of times on the witness stand Thursday as she told jurors that David Mueller reached under her skirt during a meet-and-greet photo op in 2013. When she finished meeting her fans, Dent said, Swift told her staff about the groping.

"I saw his hand under her skirt".

Mueller's lawyer Gabriel McFarland repeatedly pressed Dent on why he didn't step in. Mueller testified he did not grope Swift.

The jury was due to return on Monday for closing arguments in the case.
